Dr. Patricia A. Young

Dr. Patricia A. Young is an educator, consultant and researcher committed to bringing innovative learning design solutions to business, industry, government and schools. Presently, she is employed as an Associate Professor in Literacy Education at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Dr. Young earned her PhD in Education: Language, Literacy and Culture from the University of California Berkeley. She received her Master of Science degree in Education from California State University Hayward and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Arts from New York Institute of Technology. Her latest book Instructional Design Frameworks and Intercultural Models (2009) presents the Culture Based Model as a framework for the design of culture-based information and communication technologies. Dr. Young has published numerous referred articles in journals such as: Artificial Intelligence and Society; British Journal of Educational Technology; Journal of Educational, Technology & Society; Journal of Language, Identity and Education; and Race, Ethnicity & Education. In 2009, Dr. Young received the Outstanding Journal Article Award from the Association of Educational Communications & Technology — Design & Development Division for her article: Integrating Culture in the Design of ICTs.
